DR. LEONARD J. PRESS

DR. DANIEL PRESS

A Leader in his Profession

Dr. Press is the recipient of the New Jersey Optometric Association's Scientific Achievement Award for his contributions to the scientific advancement of the profession of optometry. He received the Award in 1994, and again in 2003. Dr. Press was recruited to the State University of New York, State College of Optometry, to serve as Chief of the Vision Therapy Service from 1982 through 1997. At that point he turned his attention to full-time private practice, but has stayed active in education. Dr. Press is a preceptor for students from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and Illinois College of Optometry, and gives an annual lecture to the Residency program at the State University of New York's College of Optometry. He has served as a visiting lecturer at the Illinois College of Optometry, the Ohio State University College of Optometry, and as a scholar in residence at the New England College of Optometry.

Dr. Press is Board Certified in Vision Therapy by the College of Optometrists in Vision Development, and a Diplomate in Binocular Vision and Perception of the American Academy of Optometry. He has served as President of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development, and as President of the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians. Dr, Press is current Chair of the Pediatrics and Binocular Vision Committee of the American Optometric Association.

Author of more than 100 papers in the scientific and clinical literature, Dr. Press has also written three textbooks: Clinical Pediatric Optometry (Butterworth, 1993) and Applied Concepts in Vision Therapy (Mosby, 1997), and Clinical Pearls in Refractive Care (Butterworth-Heinemann 2002), in addition to a monograph on Computers and Vision Therapy Programs (OEP, 1992).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Dr. Leonard J. Press is a 1977 graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, where he was a member of the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society. He completed his Residency program in Pediatric Optometry at The Eye Institute of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, and formerly served as Chief of the Pediatric Unit of The Eye Institute. He subsequently served as Chief of Vision Therapy Services, including the Learning Disabilities Unit, at the State University of New York College of Optometry.

MEET DR. DANIEL PRESS

Dr. Daniel Press graduated with honors from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2007 and subsequently joined the team at Family Eyecare Associates. He was recognized for clinical excellence in his pediatric internship at the college. He also completed internships specializing in vision therapy, contact lenses, and ocular disease. While in school he served as the student liaison to the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD), secretary of the student council, and director of the athletic committee.

Dr. Daniel Press' professional memberships include COVD, New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians, American Optometric Association (AOA), Sports Vision section of AOA, Contact Lens and Cornea section of the AOA, and the Orthokeratology Academy of America. Dr. Daniel Press has been certified in Corneal Refractive Therapy, a specialty contact lens approach to slowing down nearsightedness. He enjoys working with patients to ensure their visual and overall well being.
